Yahoo’s! CTO and head of products has quit the company citing personal reasons, it was confirmed yesterday.

Ari Balogh, who joined Yahoo! in February 2008, will leave his post on 3 June. The firm said it would announce a replacement in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, All Things Digital is citing several inside sources who claim that Yahoo! execs have been involved in some cosy chats with ex-Microsoft wonk Blake Irving.

According to the report he may get the nod from Yahoo! to run its products division and become an internet “visionary” at the struggling company.

Balogh issued a statement via Yahoo! yesterday in which he said he was quitting the firm for personal family reasons.

"This job was my dream job, which makes this decision very hard," he said. ®
