Outage at EE wrecks voice calls across the UK
EE phone home
EE customers have been hit with a nationwide outage, with many unable to make calls this morning.
According to monitoring site Down Detector, the problem first emerged around 8am this morning.
Customers in London and the South East appear to have been hit the hardest. But folk were also reporting problems in Blackpool, Huddersfield, Leeds, Norfolk, Durham, and Portsmouth.
In a statement EE said: “Some of our customers are reporting problems when trying to make calls to some numbers this morning. All data and messaging services are working as normal. We’re working to fix this as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The firm confirmed the issue is affects voice calls only, with most calls between EE customers working as normal. However, it seems to be affecting only some calls to non-EE numbers.
Naturally, people took to Twitter to complain... ®
@EE Like others I am unable to make or receive calls to/from landlines. Expecting urgent call so hugely frustrating.— David Zentler-Munro (@dzentlermunro) October 10, 2017
.@EE I can't seem to make outgoing calls or ring your customer service from my landline - is service down? Any estimates on how long?— Steph Plowright (@SWArm20) October 10, 2017
