Dell EMC cranks Xeon servers into ludicrous mode with Tesla GPUs

But can it play Crysis on ultra?

Dell EMC is adding a Xeon Phi server and Tesla GPU acceleration to its PowerEdge high-performance computing (HPC) server line-up

The new PowerEdge HPC servers look like this:

  • C6320p with Intel's Xeon Phi processor
  • C4130 now comes with Nvidia Tesla P100 GPU accelerator
  • R730 also gets Tesla P100 GPU acceleration

The University of Pisa is using C4130 Tesla-accelerated servers with Nvidia's Deep Learning GPU Training System (DIGITS) for DNA sequencing.

Dell EMC is offering Cycle Computing software and services for cloud orchestration and management of HPC workloads, with AWS, Azure and Google clouds supported.

It's also going to offer customers Intel's HPC Orchestrator, based on the OpenHPC open source project, this quarter for installation, management and maintenance of HPC systems.

The Phi-powered C6320p will be available by early 2017. ®
