iOS 10 in 'smart' key woe

The maker of the Kevo smart lock is warning users that some features will not work properly with the new version of iOS.

Kwikset says that the touch features on the Bluetooth-enabled lock will work with iOS 10 devices only when the Kevo app itself is launched and active.

Previously, the Kevo had enabled touch entry when the phone was in the user's pocket, sensing the proximity of the device over Bluetooth and allowing the lock to be set or opened by touching.

Those features will still work, but only when the app is loaded and running on the phone, rather than when the phone is just in your pocket.

So no, iOS 10 didn't break your Kevo lock, but it's going to be a fair bit less convenient to use for a while. Maybe just revert to using that strange jagged metal thing that came with it. ®
