Quake-hit Italy: Open up Wi-Fi

Rescuers in Italy are asking people in the country's earthquake ravaged areas to open their Wi-Fi networks.

The branches of the Red Cross have requested that residents in the cities where a 6.2 magnitude quake hit remove the password protections on their wireless networks so rescuers can use them to communicate.

More than 250 people were killed and 360 injured in Thursday's earthquake. Collapsed homes and other buildings have trapped many others under the debris.

Thousands of rescuers remain in the area. ®
