Never heard of NxGn?

Now you'll have to learn a new name for "in-situ" processing SSD developer (formerly NxGn Data), which has dubbed itself NGD Systems.

NxGn Data is a startup developing an enterprise SSD that can apply compute to the data it holds, dubbed "In-Situ" processing. The SSD uses TLC flash, has high capacity, and because compute is in the SSD, is carried out with low latency, low power consumption and claimed higher performance. Big Data analytics is a potential use case.

Nader Salessi, founder and CEO of newly renamed NGD Systems said: “NGD Systems focuses on providing solutions that enable the computation of data directly in storage, and changing the company’s name to NGD Systems reflects the system level capabilities that we bring into storage solutions.” NGD gained $6.26m funding in May this year. ®
