TN not friends with Zenefits

Embattled HR software developer Zenefits has agreed to pay the state of Tennessee $62,500 for cheating its insurance and regulation laws.

The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance said that it will be extracting the fine to settle claims that it allowed employees to sell and broker insurance plans without obtaining a proper license.

Zenefits saw its value plummet and its CEO jump ship earlier this year, when it was revealed that the insurance brokerage was using automated programs to help new employees cheat on licensing tests in order to expand its ranks faster. ®
