Schrems spy case a 'circus'

The activist and lawyer behind a landmark legal case digging into mass surveillance by the US authorities is worried it is rapidly becoming a "circus."

Earlier this month, the US government took the unusual step of applying to become an "amicus" in the case that Max Schrems brought against Facebook and which resulted in the striking down of the Safe Harbor transatlantic data sharing agreement.

Now Schrems reveals that no fewer than nine others have applied for amicus status in his case. "We now have 10(!) applications in #SCC/#PRISM case to become "amicus". #Absurd #Circus," he tweeted. ®
