Twitter buys Magic Pony

Twitter has announced its acquisition of London-based machine learning firm Magic Pony Technology for an undisclosed amount.

Magic Pony Technology, which claims to have more than 20 international patents for machine learning based approaches for visual processing, said it has now joined forces with Twitter to improve the visual experiences that are delivered across Twitter's apps.

Twitter, meanwhile, has applauded the enhancement of its own "strength in live and video," and claims Magic Pony "opens up a whole lot of exciting creative possibilities for Twitter."

The acquisition follows that of AI startup Whetlab, which Twitter assimilated almost exactly a year ago. ®
