Charter halts TWC upgrades

Charter Communications is stopping an upgrade option offered by its recently acquired Time Warner Cable business.

According to a memo published by advocacy site Stop the Cap, Charter is telling its employees that it's suspending the Maxx upgrade program – which had been in effect since January 2014 – so that executives can review the program.

The Maxx upgrades allowed Time Warner Cable customers to get higher broadband speeds without changing their current plans or paying more. The suspension was described as a "temporary hold" that went into effect on May 26.

Charter acquired Time Warner Cable earlier this year a $79bn buyout deal. ®
