Paul backs FBI hack law

The fight to limit FBI hacking powers may have picked up a valuable ally.

US Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) revealed this week that in the coming days he plans to co-sponsor legislation that would limit the ability of agents to get wide-reaching search warrants from US judge. The law would be a counter measure to recent proposed rule changes.

Paul's co-sponsorship of the bill would add a powerful Republican name to what has currently been an effort lead solely by Democrats. Having both parties on board would potentially be a huge boost to the bill's chances of passing through Congress. ®
