Linux 4.6 now a week away

Linus Torvalds has decided Linux 4.6 needs another release candidate after all.

Last week Torvalds pondered whether a mere six release candidates might get the job done. This week he's decided seven is his lucky number.

“So here's rc7, because while things were really quiet there for a while, it nefer [sic-ed] got *so* quiet that I would decide that there's no point to making the traditional last rc,” the Linux Lord wrote. “But this is it, unless something surprising happens.”

Torvalds hopes you test the current release candidate to make sure it doesn't need extra revisions. ®
