App Store loses own apps

An Apple App Store cockup left folks unable to search for some iOS apps earlier today – sparking fears Apple was stripping categories of software from its online bazaar.

Reg reader Matt Drnovscek alerted us on Thursday morning to the fact that queries for particular types of apps – such as mobile device management (MDM) clients – would come back with zero results. For example, VMware's Airwatch worryingly disappeared for a while.

Apple has since confirmed that for several hours its public App Store was unable to find its own apps.

It appears the issues are now resolved. So if you were looking earlier for an app only to find it had vanished, try looking again. ®
