Gridstore boss George Symons ejects, leaves hyper-upstart headless

Biz still defragging its management, it seems

Gridstore CEO George Symons left the company in February after almost three years at the helm, with no successor appointed.

The Mountain View, California, biz is a hyper-converged infrastructure startup focussing on Microsoft's Hyper-V hypervisor.

Symons is no longer listed as CEO on the company's website and, indeed, no CEO is listed at all.

Gridstore took in $19m of C-round funding in February, which is coincidental timing at the very least. The injection brought with it a new chairman of the board, Nariman Teymourian; a new director, Kevin Dillon, who is a general partner at lead investor Atlantic Bridge Capital; and three executives, including a new CFO, an Americas sales head, and a chief strategy officer (CSO). The CFO and CSO came from a Dell background.

Thus Symons had to report to a new chairman and had three new execs added to his team. We don't know whether he would actually have hired them if the choice was his alone.

We contacted Gridstore over the weekend, and it's acknowledged receiving the enquiry, but it has so far been unable to formulate anything it wants to put out about this. The fact that nothing has been said – such as who is acting CEO, for example, or a CEO search being underway – suggests that things are still in flux at the top of Gridstore. ®
