Node.js Foundation gets a small sprinkling of Yahoo!
The web-portal-email-search-forums provider joined Node.js as a silver member.
Yahoo! in a statement said it’s joining the Foundation – which has a "mission to enable widespread adoption ... and provide a framework for long-term stewardship", according to its website – because it saw the “promise” of Node.JS.
The company claims to run one of the industry’s largest Node.js environments, having re-written hundreds of sites from PHP and claiming to serve tens of thousands of requests per second. Yahoo uses Node.js in tooling, CI, and serving traffic.
The Node.js Foundation was announced in June, created from the merging of the Node.js and io.js code bases to create a neutral forum. Members include IBM, Joyant, Microsoft and SAP, among others.®
