Former Dragon lures reseller exec into cloud cave

Outgoing Insight UK veep de Sousa to grab controls at Outsourcery on April Fool's Day

Manchester-based cloud-slinger Outsourcery has confirmed that outgoing Insight Enterprises UK boss Emma de Sousa will land as managing director in April.

Sources told us last week that de Sousa was quitting Insight - it was confirmed by the company yesterday - and that one option on the table was the offer from Outsourcery.

AIM-listed Outsourcery issued a statement to the stock market today, revealing it is hiring de Sousa “with a primary focus… on driving sales and marketing activity”.

She joins on April Fools’ Day next year - no really - and will need to draw upon all her experience at Insight to get the revenue dial moving upwards in a meaningful way.

The company, founded in 2007 by co-CEO’s Piers Linney and Simon Newton, sells Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Skype for Business. But it has found profitable growth hard to come by, with losses running higher than revenues.

That particular duck was broken in the first six months of calendar ’14, with sales coming in at £4.1m - up £700k year-on-year and adjusted losses cut to £2.1m from £2.8m.

Outsourcery had relied on third party sellers to bring in the business but too few have brought home the bacon. It has set up a direct sales arm in the hope of beefing up the top line, and ease cash flow woes.

The arrival of de Sousa is expected to allow Linney and Newton to step back from daily operations, to focus more on strategy.

In a statement, Linney said de Sousa’s “extensive experience and strong track record will prove to be of immense value”.

de Sousa spent 12 years at Insight, including spells running Germany, Southern Europe and (during the last six years), the UK. ®
