Bird flies nest: Symantec UK, Ireland and Nordics boss moves on

Exec quits just five months into role

Keith Bird, Symantec veep and MD for the UK, Ireland and Nordics has flown the coop just five months after landing in the job.

Bird told us he exited under his own steam.

“I’ve decided to leave to explore other opportunities outside of the company, that is the bottom line”, he told The Channel.

Security veteran Bird was previously UK boss at Checkpoint, and even further back in the annals of time was EMEA chief at SomincWALL and the EMEA channel director at Extreme Networks.

He only joined Symantec in May, just months ahead of its corporate separation with Veritas – which was recently sold to private equity firm Carlyle for $8bn.

Bird refused to say if he has another job lined up – or to answer any further questions.

Symantec is undergoing sweeping changes and it will take time to steer the ship towards better times. The company has reported sales declines in three of the past four quarters.

A spokeswoman at the company confirmed that Kevin Isaac, senior veep and ear of sales for EMEA, is in charge of the responsibilities let go by Bird.

In a statement, Symantec said it “appreciates his [Bird’s] contributions to the company and wish him well for the future”. ®
