IBM buys top Workday channel partner

More grunt to its HR elbow

IBM is beefing up its human resources software roster by buying Meteorix, a Boston MA reseller with more than 200 Workday consultants. Financial terms are undisclosed.

Workday competes directly with Oracle for finance and HR software business in large enterprises – IBM’s heartland too. The SaaS provider is on a roll, forecasting 2016 revenues ranging between $1.115bn and $1.140bn, or growth of 42-45 per cent.

So IBM’s customers want Workday’s cloud-based applications and its service provider arm, IBM Global Business Service, can now give a helping hand. And of course, the Meteorix guys get an awful lot more customers to play with.

Workday could have bought Meteorix itself. But it should be delighted with this deal which gains it a powerful ally in the war of attrition against Oracle. ®
