Helpful Nimble enhances NUKE THE LOT option on array control panel
Volume shredding via a REST API. How relaxing
Hybrid array supplier Nimble Storage has added evolutionary tweaks to its array software to enable more precise control of performance, better data security, and a programmatic interface for building your own workflows and reports.
Its product is NAF, the Nimble Adaptive Flash Platform, which is branding for its CS-Series arrays.
Its InfoSight management facility, with its intensive sensor-based array reporting to Nimble HQ, is generally regarded as one of the best in the storage industry.
The Nimble OS v2.3 additions provide:
- Non-disruptive scaling past 160TB of flash per cluster and beyond 3.5PB of capacity overall
- Per-volume pinning, which includes:
-
- All-flash service level for apps needing fastest performance
- All-disk service level for apps needing lower performance
- SmartSecure software-based encryption and shredding at volume (per-application) or array level. Encrypted data can be replicated to another site with the target site understanding the encryption key, easing the admin burden
- REST APIs added so admin staff can build customised reporting and workflows
- InfoSight-VMVision shows throughput, IOPs, and latency levels across all layers: host, network and storage, at a per-VM level
Nimble says application service levels can be dynamically changed as needs evolve.
