HP UK confirms second-in-command for PC and print biz

Paul Boshoff to run channel sales from the summer, replaces Cusick

HP trawled the international job market and its own organisation to recruit Paul Boshoff, the latest person to run channel sales for the UK PC and printer operation.

The job was left vacant some months back when HP waved bye to Damian Cusick, with sources telling us he grew the business but not at the rate forecasted by task masters in Europe.

Boshoff was this week officially sworn in as commercial channel sales director of the Print and Personal Systems (PPS) group but he doesn’t start the job until the summer.

HP told us the recruit, who is currently running PPS for HP in New Zealand, will also lead the commercial channel team when the organisation splits from 1 November to form HP Inc.

Prior to New Zealand, Boshoff was an HP sales manager in South Africa, had worked at Compaq as account manager and even further back in time was an IT manager for a start-up.

HP is preparing to break-up in a bid to compete more effectively against the competition, and has all of the senior exec teams in place.

A bunch of sales programmes were launched in Vegas last month to help smooth the split and ensure the company doesn't lose sales in the same way IBM did as it transferred System x to Lenovo.

The PC market in 2015 is likely to add to the pressure facing HP what with the currency issue and decelerating PC demand. ®
