Virgin Media customers suffer YET MORE YouTube buffering blues

Cache-strapped

An unknown number of Virgin Media customers are once again complaining about YouTube buffering glitches with the cable network.

El Reg understands that some subscribers have been griping about the poor service for days.

And moany tweets aimed at Virgin Media are stacking up on Twitter.

This is the latest in a series of buffering faults the Liberty Global-owned UK telco has battled.

YouTube access was most recently crippled on the broadband service in September, as we reported here.

Reg reader Richard told us last night that VM was hit by another buffering cockup.

"Awaiting some kind of response from Virgin, but their caching system has fallen over yet again in Manchester and West London at least," he told the Reg.

"Watching YouTube via proxy works fine, so it's clearly a Virgin Media cache problem."

Richard told us that the service was working for him this morning, only for it to collapse again this evening. Virgin Media has apparently promised to fix the glitch by tomorrow.

Vulture Weekend sought a statement from Virgin Media, but it hadn't immediately got back to us with comment at time of publication. ®
