Ericsson slurps up unified data centre software shop
Customer becomes owner
Ericsson has bought an 11-year-old data-centre cloud specialist.
The telecomms infrastructure player has bought Sentilla, used to manage data-centre “assets” – physical, virtual and private and public clouds.
Sentilla claims to use model-driven analysis and intelligent capacity forecasting to deliver a “unified view of data-centre operations.”
"The system operates without need to install meters of agents on devices,” it claims.
More importantly, customers span telecoms – AT&T, SingTel and Ericsson itself.
Ericsson said the deal enhanced its ability to help service providers working with IT shops managing the complexity of mobility and the cloud. The firm said Sentilla’s capabilities in data gathering, performance monitoring, policy engine and reporting complement Ericsson's own Cloud Manager and Expert Analytics for “advanced” data centre and cloud management.
Sentilla will be incorporated into Ericsson’s Business Unit Support Solutions.
Financial terms were not disclosed. ®
