It's not you, it's Three. Mobe network goes titsup across UK

'Definitely not planned on a Monday morning (of all days)'. Well, DOH

Mobile operator Three UK is suffering a widespread outage across the country after the service was abruptly halted by server maintenance earlier today.

Customers began complaining that they were unable to access the network this morning.

The Register contacted Three UK to find out what had gone wrong. Yet the carrier's PR agency appeared to be asleep at the wheel when we got in touch on Monday lunchtime.

A statement was promised by the junior flack we spoke to, after he initially appeared oblivious to the fact that the network had gone titsup.

Meanwhile, over on Twitter, subscribers are being told to sit tight by Three UK, which admitted that the sudden "maintenance work" message showing up on customer accounts hadn't been pre-scheduled.

According to DownDetector, customers have been complaining about signal and data issues with the network since early this morning.

Reg reader John told us that Three UK's My3 service was offline. He added:

Customer service "is currently unavailable for scheduled maintenance" during working hours. Unable to call abroad: "Sorry it has not been possible to connect your call please try again later."

We'll update this story if Three UK's PR agency does get back to El Reg with a statement. ®
