NBN Co extends satellite scheme

New beams will leave 9,000 premises beaming

NBN Co has announced that 9,000 more premises in remote Australia will be offered satellite services.

The NBN Co Satellite Support (NSS) Scheme is an interim operation until dedicated satellites go aloft. In the meantime, NBN Co has used third-parties to provide connectivity to remote users, but ran out of capacity.

The outfit has since signed up satellite broadband wholesaler IP Star to deliver the service, which will be presented by retail service providers.

Folks who have not previously enjoyed subsidised satellite broadband under Australian Broadband Guarantee or the NBN Co’s ISS program are eligible for the new service. ®
