HP names veteran Andy Isherwood as new UK boss - as we predicted

Bet you wished you'd laid money on it now

HP has named Andy Isherwood as the new boss of its UK and Ireland division - just as El Chan had hotly tipped.

On Monday, we revealed that the appointment process was a two-horse race, pitting Isherwood against Martin Hess.

Red of hair and face, Isherwood is a HP veteran of 25 years. He joined the firm on a graduate trainee programme and worked his way up through a variety of jobs to end up as senior veep for worldwide sales, service and support.

Now he's the UK and Ireland head honcho, and will reporting to Peter Ryan, a senior vice-president and managing director of Hewlett-Packard's EMEA operation.

“I congratulate Andy on his appointment and wish him every success,” said Ryan. “Andy joined HP in 1988 with the graduate training programme and has risen through the ranks.”

Nick Wilson, who has been the UK and Ireland boss for the past four years, will become general manager of enterprise services and managing director of HP South Pacific. ®
