Former 2e2 director Marke rocks up at Daisy Group

Acquisitive telco services player Daisy Group has created a chief technology officer role for former 2e2 director Nathan Marke.

Marke was CTO at 2e2 for nearly four and a half years from August 2008 until the Berkshire-based integrator bit the dust earlier this year. Prior to that he was sales director at Prime Business Solutions.

Talking to The Channel, Daisy Group CEO Matt Riley, said through the acquisition of Net Crowd and 2e2's data centre operations his outfit is broadening its portfolio into the tech sector.

"I needed some help. My natural stomping ground is fixed line, mobile with SMEs," he said. "I've got experience of buying, selling and growing companies but needed someone with technical skills".

IP data specialist The Net Crowd was hoovered up in February, adding data and convergence plays to Daisy. Riley's firm then paid £2.8m for the Gateshead and Reading server farms owned by 2e2.

This means Daisy is dealing more with vendors including Cisco and Microsoft and enterprise customers, said Riley.

The collapse of 2e2 has left a sour taste is many peoples' mouths - former employees, trade creditors and customers.

But Riley said Marke's technology strategy at 2e2 was "correct" but the "execution wasn't followed through", claiming his new senior recruit was "not tarnished" by 2e2's demise. ®
