BT Engage IT's big cheese shown the door
COO 'will exit amid planned redundancies'
The chief operating officer at BT Engage IT has been handed his pink slip as part of the planned redundancies at the reseller giant, The Reg understands.
The telco giant is integrating its three reseller businesses including BT Engage – comprising the Basilica and Lynx Technology acquisitions – the Business Direct brand (dabs.com biz telesales operations) and consumer etailer dabs.com.
As a result, some heads are rolling where there is overlap between the organisations, with staff put on notice of redundancy, as revealed by El Reg last week.
However, it has since emerged that BT Engage IT COO Chris Leigh has also been given his marching orders, say sources close to the situation.
He joined Basilica in 1993 as operations director and became COO at BT Engage IT after it was acquired by BT in 2006. Leigh was the last of the old guard, with all other senior directors at Basilica exiting the business in recent years.
BT refused to comment and Leigh was unavailable to comment. ®
