Amazon slips out Microsoft's Windows 7 Family Pack kill date
Sales end 31 December
Sales of Microsoft’s Windows 7 Family Pack look set to expire on Friday 31 December, that is if Amazon’s kill date of the product is repeated elsewhere.
The online retailer confirmed last Friday that it would stop selling the £149.99 ($149.99) Family Pack – which offers customers three upgrade licences from Windows XP and Vista to the Home Premium version of Windows 7 – at the end of this week. “This product is available for a limited time and will be available to purchase until December 31, or while supplies last,” said the company.
Microsoft confirmed it would rerun its Windows 7 Family Pack promotion in September this year.
US customers were able to buy the Family Pack edition of Microsoft’s current operating system on 3 October, while other parts of the world including the UK, Canada, France, Australia and Germany got their hands on the limited edition software on 22 October.
At the time Microsoft said the promotion would end once it ran out of supplies. Last year, sales of the Windows 7 Family Pack stopped in December, after being on sale for just six weeks. ®
