Microsoft hits stubborn volume licensing site with more updates

Microsoft has once again tweaked its volume licensing website, just seven months after its disastrous makeover in December last year.

In February the software vendor finally admitted to The Register that its overhauled but hamstrung volume licensing site was still only slowly processing customer and partner details.

Worse still, in some instances the refurbished site was serving up the wrong login information to MS punters.

Microsoft struggled for months to provide all its users with access to the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC), after it relaunched the system late last year.

In response to the series of blunders the VLSC suffered after relaunch in December, Microsoft eventually applied some fixes and updates to the system in late April.

Since then Redmond has continued to hear gripes from customers and partners about the less-than-perfect VLSC site. So more updates are coming tomorrow, Microsoft’s Eric Ligman confirmed.

“We have reached out to many partners and customers around the world through Live Meetings, interviews, hands-on usability studies, customer and partner surveys, forums, and events to gather input and feedback on how to improve the VLSC. We take this feedback seriously and are continually incorporating their suggestions into the VLSC,” he said.

“As a result of feedback, small incremental changes will be implemented in this next release, with user interface updates to improve self-help options and understanding of permission roles, as well as to increase user efficiency. No downtime is expected. Note that the final release date is subject to change.” ®
