Xiotech cracks GlassHouse

Joint marketing and development deal

Xiotech's new management team has scored a big channel win by signing up GlassHouse to work on joint development and marketing efforts using Xiotech's ISE technology.

GlassHouse is a data centre infrastructure consulting services company that has grown by acquisition that has filed for an IPO after an earlier IPO attempt failed due to adverse financial circumstances.

Alan Atkinson is Xiotech's new CEO and president; he joined the firm in October last year following a $10m funding injection, and has brought in some new senior executives. They have re-oriented the firm's marketing to focus on storage systems that use its Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) disk enclosure technology to build lower-cost, lower maintenance storage arrays with storage data management carried out by software in server computers rather than by clever storage array controllers.

Xiotech claims ISEs provide a great storage systems building block because: "ISE units enable 100 per cent usable storage capacity, while maintaining optimal performance as drives approach full utilisation."

Atkinson said: "GlassHouse offers Xiotech a proven, established and scalable professional services model for further penetrating the domestic and international markets and meeting the needs of large customers and partners,"

The details of the marketing and development activities were not revealed. ®
