Dell does a Chrimbo deal with John Lewis
Winking at Middle England
Dell has inked a deal with high street retailer John Lewis to exclusively punt its range of ultra-thin Adamo XPS laptops.
Financial details of the agreement were kept secret.
Dell made a big song-and-dance about how John Lewis would be selling the Adamo XPS laptop to customers in time to slot it into their loved ones' Christmas stocking.
Additionally, the retail giant will also shift Dell's Studio 15 laptop and various Inspiron models.
Dell's decision to flog some of its products in John Lewis hardly comes as a huge surprise. The computer maker has signed similar deals over the past few years with the likes of Tesco and DSGi, both of which have been selling the firm's boxes in the UK since December 2007.
At the same time Dell has been playing catch up with the channel after abandoning its direct business model amid flagging sales at the firm. Since then, it's been climbing into bed with retailers across the globe in its efforts to turn around diminishing market share. ®
