CA boss says strategy on track

govern, manage, secure

CA World 2007: Delivering the opening speech at CA World 2007 chief executive John Swainson thanked customers for their loyalty and support and laid out a six- point plan for the future.

The elephant in the room of the company's ongoing legal and accounting problems was addressed obliquely; otherwise the 6,000 attendees heard the strategy of “Enterprise IT Management” laid out 18 months ago is on track and winning customers.

Swainson banged the drum for CA’s claim to govern, manage and secure increasingly complex and varied IT environments.

The first priority for CA is to strengthen customer relationships through its 800 account managers and through three vertical market units for telcos, finance and government business. Secondly, CA aims to expand its reach through its partners. Thirdly, the company will continue to focus on market leadership and more investments in growing the business.

Swainson said: We will align CA people and initiatives around a common purpose. “ He said the company’s internal SAP system will help “build an infrastructure within CA to allow future growth.”

The final priority is to rebuild the culture of the company. CA now has a written charter and code of ethics to help make this happen. ®
