Orange talks up Vox

Orange has begun punting its first Windows Mobile 6 device to its business buyers. Apparently based on HTC's 'Vox' smart phone: it is a candybar handset that incorporates a slide-out, mini QWERTY keyboard.

The Orange version is dubbed the SPV E650, and is being offering from today at a range of prices up to £165 exc. VAT depending on the airtime package customers buy with it.

The handset sports a 240 x 320, 65,536-colour display, a two megapixel camera and that sliding keypad - which flips the screen into landscape mode when it's pulled out. It's a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE device.

The E650 weighs 120g and measures a palm-friendly 10.2 x 5 x 1.8cm when the keyboard's stowed. Orange claimed a talk time of up to five hours, while the battery will last for seven days when the phone's on stand-by.
