Fantasy gamer banned in porno row

And no goblin jokes, OK?

EverQuest gamers are revolting after one of their online buddies was banned from the Verant Interactive gaming community for allegedly posting a smutty story.

The saga - which has to be more entertaining than any online game - has caused consternation among the dwarves, elves and other role-players who believe Sony-owned Verant has gone one dice-throw too far.

The story - posted some three months ago - allegedly referred to the fantasy rape of someone (we say someone cos some people are arguing it could be a dwarf or an elf or a goblin or summit else) "barely into her 14th season".

This, it seems, has been interpreted as a paedophile act.

What's really got the gamers' goat is that the story was not posted on a Verant or Sony site - but on a completely unrelated different one. But that hasn't stopped the gamer known as "Mystere" from being left out in the cold.

And that, according to some of the most vociferous complainers, smacks of censorship.

According to PlanetCrap.com, Gordon Wrinn, Verant's Internet Relations Manager, said the issue was "not something that we're going to discuss or justify publicly".
