Click here for free World Cup highlight clips

Goaaaaaaaal!

French and English fans looking to see video highlights of World Cup games over the Net are been offered a free alterative to the official subscription service from Fifa.

Worldcup-02.com and coupe-dumonde-02.com promise video highlights of English and French games respectively.

Highlights France's shock 1-0 defeat by unfancied Africans Senegal of are already available (at least you can see Pape Bouba Diop's goal). Support for a variety of Codecs is offered on both sites.

That's unlike the official site, which as we revealed earlier this week, only supports Windows Media Player. This means that the enjoyment of fans is severely impaired for Mac and Linux users.

Apple fans report been unable to hear commentary from games when checking out highlights of previous World Cups on the official site.

Streaming media services cost money to run, so it seems that Nokamu (the firm behind both sites) is providing the clips out of love of the game.

Which is nice.

We hope the company will be able to keep up with demand for the clips, which is likely to run high. ®
