Troubled sports dotcom Sportal Limited is up for sale -but potential buyers need not bother trying to get their mits on the Sportal brand name or any of its URLs.

According to the dotcom's administrators Ernst & Young, the following is available:

• The operations of the Websites in Europe - including joint sites with sports clubs or organisations.
• The development of 'what is believed to be the world's largest multi-language WAP service providing up to the minute sports news and results across Europe'
• Sportal's technology platform - i.e. the Web publishing platform based on Vignette software.

The URLs and Sportal brand name will stay with the holding company, Sportal International Ltd.

Michael Rollings, joint administrator for London-based Sportal Limited, said today that around a dozen enquiries had been received from interested parties, and that he was "very confident" of a sale. ®
