It's the L7NUX number plate for sale, not L1NUX

But the cops don't mind you tweaking the 7

The L7NUX number plate is up for sale on eBay UK - not L1NUX as we reported earlier.

The number plate is pictured on the eBay site with a severely stunted 7, which makes the plate read LINUX. However the owner of L7NUX, John Leitch, says he has had "no problems with police etc etc."

Well maybe that's because he hasn't been involved in a high speed chase with the cops yet.

His L7NUX plate currently resides on an open top Jaguar SK8. He's selling "because I want to move away....the contract world seems dead here so I'm selling up and moving on."

John's not saying what his reserve is but he's had "1000 emails requesting an offline sale at £10K".

The L1NUX number plate is owned by Gareth Bult, MD of Frontier Internet Services. We believe he drives a 1997 BMW 318i SE Aauto, but the car insurance database we used to check L7NUX plate came up with the wrong car, so he might be driving something newer by now. Anyway, Gareth isn't selling and he's been the DVLA registered holder of this registration mark since 1993.

The bid on the L7NIX number plate is currently £7,100. ®
