Handspring slices PDA prices by up to 25%

No sign of new models, though

Handspring doesn't appear to have launched any new PDAs today - at least, not yet; it's early in the day as we write this - as the troubled Palm-licensee is expected to, but it has cut the prices of its current line-up.

So, the basic Visor drops from $149 to $129, a fall 13 per cent; the Deluxe version falls from $199 to $169 (down 15 per cent); the Platinum is now $199, down 20 per cent from $249; and the Edge falls from $399 to $299 (down 25 per cent). The Visor Prism stays at $399.

Here in the UK, the prices come in as follows: Visor, £89; Deluxe, £149; Platinum, £189; Prism, £349; and Edge, £269.

The cuts to the Visor Edge and Platinum had been anticipated, and today's new price match those suggested last week. A reduction in the Deluxe's price was a good bet too, since both the Deluxe and the Platinum are the models believed to be the two Handspring has chosen for replacement. Rumours suggests two models, codenamed Ace and Columbia. ®
