24-7 Freecall does a Freeswerve

Unmetered accounts terminated at the drop of a hat

Published Thursday 2nd November 2000 10:25 GMT

Flat-fee ISP, 24-7 Freecall, has sent termination notices to a number of subscribers it claims have breached the company's terms and conditions.

Those who've received them have just 24 hours to get their affairs in order before they have the plug pulled.

In a short and to-the-point email sent to some users last night, the company said: "Please note that you are in breach of our terms & conditions, we refer specifically to clause 8. Accordingly, within 24 hours your account will be terminated."

It's not yet known how many people have been kicked off the service. Nor is it known what "clause 8" means since 24-7 Freecall's Web site failed to register a pulse this morning. But we can assume it's "system abuse" or some such excuse.

It's understood the ISP will issue a statement explaining its actions later this morning.

Earlier this month Britain's biggest ISP, Freeswerve, ejected 700 "abnormal" users from its unmetered service. And during the summer Breathe booted 500 modern urbanists for spending too much time online. ®
