BTo ups subs

Talk about coincidences

BTopenworld is to increase the cost of its unmetered dial-up service by £1 to £15.99 a month from May 1.

A short notice on its Web site reads: "From 1st May 2002, BTopenworld Anytime will be charged at £15.99 a month."

BTopenworld's decision to up the cost of its flagship unmetered service comes on the same day that AOL UK confirmed it plans to increase the cost of its service by £1 to £15.99 a month from May 2.

The decision by AOL UK and BTopenworld follows Freeserve's decision to increase the cost of its unmetered service by £1 to £13.99 a month from April 5.

Last month BTopenworld chief exec Alison Ritchie declined to say whether she would follow Freeserve's lead and increase the cost of the ISP's unmetered dial-up service. ®
