Freeserve ups prices for AnyTime service

Freeserve is to increase the cost of its flat-rate narrowband service by an extra £1 a month, the UK's biggest ISP has confirmed.

From April 5 Freeserve's AnyTime tariff will cost £13.99 a month.

In a statement the ISP said: "With effect from 5th April 2002, Freeserve is raising the price of its
AnyTime unmetered access product from £12.99 to £13.99 per month. This is the first price change to AnyTime since it was launched more than a year ago in January 2001. At £13.99 per month, Freeserve AnyTime is still the best value unmetered access package from any of the big players in the UK."

Which is all well and good – but we prefer the statement Freeserve issued last week when El Reg called about rumours concerning possible price rises to its flagship dial-up service. That was altogether more...how can we put it..."entertaining".

It said: "If ever we decide to adjust our prices - up, down, sideways, back to front, in yen, Euros or dollars - our customers will know about it from us, and that's the way it should be."
