BTinternet has issued a final warning to some 270 Net users it claims are abusing its dial-up service and will terminate their accounts if they do not curtail their online activities.

It's understood that users could be booted off within a fortnight unless they heed BT's warning.

In an email sent out last night the ISP said: "As advised, under the terms and conditions of the BTinternet Anytime service, customers are not permitted to leave their internet connection maintained whilst not using the service.

"Our records have identified that your account continues to be used in this manner. We wish to advise that should this practice continue, we reserve our right to suspend or terminate your account without further notice to you," it said.

Last month 400 BTinternet customers were warned about their excessive use of the Net. ®
