Are you filthy enough to win $10,000?

Scummy, rotting, nasty, dirty readers need only apply

Published Monday 5th February 2001 12:28 GMT

It's enough to turn even the strongest of stomachs... for US-based Apartments.com is looking for students to compete in its 2001 Messiest College Apartment Contest.

If you've got mould growing on the carpet, beer cans scattered among crushed packets of fags (that's the UK meaning of fags, OK, ie "cigarettes"), empty takeaway cartons nursing colonies of maggots and bottles strewn around half-filled with urine, then you could be in line to win $10,000.

It's the second year Apartments.com has run this compo. Last year, it was won by John Anderson of Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. You can see his winning entry here.

If you're interested, you need to submit four colour photos and a 250-word blurb describing why you have the messiest college apartment by March 9. Entry details can be found here.

El Reg is keeping its talons crossed that the winner is one of our readers. ®
