Mafiaboy gets a real job

The infamous Canadian sixteen-year-old known as Mafiaboy, who, it is claimed, humbled such mighty Colossi of e-commerce as Yahoo!, eBay, CNN and Amazon back in February with a series of not-terribly-clever distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, has made bail on condition that he hold down a job.

Mafiaboy, whose real name has never been released and is therefore known only to 15,000 of his closest hometown friends, was freed on bail following his initial court appearance in April, but managed to stuff that up recently by cutting classes and being discourteous to his teachers.

This week he dropped out of school and took a job, the nature of which has not been disclosed publicly, and the holding of which has now become a condition of his continued freedom.

His trial is scheduled to commence on 5 March and all signs point to an entertaining contest characterised by much rhetorical grandstanding and diffusion of the facts in vast clouds of technical jargon. 'O.J. lite', we're thinking. ®
