Eve.com goes titsup.comBeauty e-tailer sells its last lipstickPublished Friday 20th October 2000 20:29 GMT Beauty e-tailer Eve.com will today sell its last lipstick, according to a posting on the site. The 18-month-old California dotcom said orders placed after 8pm PT today would not be shipped. Earlier orders will be delivered "subject to availability of stock". All 164 staff will lose their jobs. "We will be closing our doors on Friday, October 20," the sign on the site read. "We hope that shopping with us has been a 'beautiful' experience. Thanks for your support." The problem was the typical dotcom fall-down - lack of cash, CNet reported. Eve.com's financers included Idealab, which pulled its planned IPO on Wednesday. "Over the past several months the company improved gross margins and reduced costs to the point that Eve delivered orders profitably," the company said in a statement. "However, this was not enough to overcome the lack of sufficient scale. After examining every alternative, the company regretfully concluded that liquidation is the only viable option." ® Related StoriesGirl teen site dies after 46 days
