Couple name baby after music Web site

A Kansas couple has sold its baby's soul to cyberspace to win $5,000.

Jessica and Travis Thornhill named their 8lb, 8oz baby boy Internet Underground Music Archive Dylan-Lucas to qualify for the cash payout. Bit of a mouthful, so he will be known as Iuma Dylan-Lucas for short.

The youngster is the fourth Iuma baby, according to the underground music group's Website, which brandishes the competition for parents to name their offspring after the venture.

All they have to do is put a picture of the baby and copy of its birth certificate onto the site. The first ten are promised either $5,000 (£3,000) cash or free Iuma music, downloads, CDs, concerts and merchandise for life.

"Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys have put our children in peril," warns Antony Brydon, general manager of IUMA, on the site.

"But we can save our children before their tastes are soured by bubblegum culture. By the time they reach the age of seven or eight, it's too late. But a baby named 'IUMA' will grow up in a loving home filled to the brim with the best new music on the planet."

But Top 40 music haters should not rush out (or in) to start procreating. The closing date for baby entries is November 1. ®
