Mirapoint battles growth in spam

But not standalone

ComputerWire: IT Industry Intelligence

Messaging appliance vendor Mirapoint has released what it claims is the industry's most comprehensive spam-protection software.

Available now as part of the company's Message Server and Message Director appliances, the new anti-spam tools are designed to be deployed by ISPs, mobile operators and enterprise or public sector organizations to block unsolicited email.

The tools include a combination of heuristic rules-based scanning, white and black lists, content filtering and SMTP-based authentication to keep out unwanted mail. The software is also configurable with network-based updates to keep up with new filters and rules. Administrators also have the choice of automatically deleting suspected junk mail, or filtering it into folders for closer inspection.

Class-of-service controls enable administrators to set rules based on per-user or per-domain rules using the anti-spam web-based administration interfaces and command-line tools, said the company.

The tools are available only to users of Mirapoint's appliance servers. To deploy the anti-spam tools users of Message Server or Message Director need to download the new Mirapoint Messaging Operating System 3.3 software and apply the license key accompanying the purchase.
