HP beefs up low-end iPaq

Faster CPU, SDIO support

Reg Kit Watch

PDA

HP yesterday launched the iPaq h1935, the successor to the h1910, which will soon be phased out, the company said. The new model improves upon the older one with a faster processor - a 203MHz Samsung S3C2410 in place of a 200MHz Intel XScale PXA255 - and an SDIO slot ready for the emerging crop of Wi-Fi add-in cards, such as SanDisk's recently released WiFi SD card.

The h1935 also includes Microsoft's latest Pocket PC OS, Windows Mobile 2003. The PDA contains 64MB of RAM, of which 56MB are available to the user, and 16MB of ROM. The device sports a 3.5in transflective TFT LCD - probably the same one used on the h1940. Unlike the h1940, the h1935 has no integrated Bluetooth support.

The h1935 is priced at $249 in the US, though HP is currently offering a $50 rebate provided buyers send in a coupon.

In the UK, the h1935 was launched a couple of months back as the h1930, priced at around £235 excluding sales tax. ®
