Innovation Blue: What new logo?

Letters Innovation Blue is the Colour a Konica Minolta LogoWatch special

What new logo? All they have done is add the word 'Konica' to the start of their old logo.

Not really a new logotype. Minolta came up with the inexplicable blue circle twenty-odd years ago sometimes using it to replace the central "O" in Minolta. They merely added the Konica name to the mix. When the merger is trying to solve the money woes of both companies, you don't spend a lot on the new logo.

You failed to mention the slight similarity between the new logo and the old Minolta logo

The main difference (to my eyes at least) is that there are now five lines across the middle, instead of four. (I suppose the fifth line represents corporate takeovers!). And there is nothing in the new brand that is taken from the old Konica brand.

umm.. and they call it a merger. Just like when Compaq and HP merged and made a new corporate identity called 'HP' ;-)

I feel sure that I have missed the subtle changes in the shape of the "Globe Mark" or the changes in the dynamic relationship between the 5 lines of light, but to me it looks like all they have done is stick the name Konica on the existing Minolta logo, albeit adopting a new font Why no mention of the inherent qualities that this new typeface possesses I wonder? The stylish, graceful curves representing the design essence of the product range; modern yet classic. They have surely missed a major opportunity.

It would be interesting, possibly not very, to know what claims were made when Minolta originally adopted this logo and has the new symbolism evolved out of the allegorical iconography in a symbiotic growth reflecting the new partnership? Another opportunity going begging.

So much bollocks and it isn't even Friday afternoon.

Not the AT&T logo, then?
