The Register's very own Vulture Central II has stormed the charts for teams involved in the SETI-style quest to find a cure for cancer.

Since its kick-off in April, the peer-to-peer (P2P) computing scheme has attracted more than 700,000 members worldwide.

For its part, the Vulture Central II team now has 1,805 members, with 208,544 results received in 258 years and 169 days' of CPU time.

This ranks the team fifth in the groups taking part in the project in regard to the number of members and results, and fourth in terms of CPU time.

And now to SETI@Home, the P2P project set up to find alien intelligence, the Reg Vulture Central team now has 1,207 members. Between them, they have generated a total of 469709 results received in 808.853 years of CPU time.

Vulture Central is 34th on the list of teams taking part. Which means it's being beaten by the likes of Intel (9th) and IBM (13th) - so get your finger out and join up. ®
